Job Description

Overview Trust Officer I role at Amerant Bank. Responsible for providing trust and estate administration services to individuals with the objective to achieve high standards of service quality within the policies, plans, strategies and standards established by Amerant, the regulators and the market they served. Responsibilities Administer estate, trust, or custody accounts according to the directives in the will, trust document or custody agreement and applicable statutes and regulations In coordination with Relationship Managers or other banking officers, contribute to business development and sales of all Trust products and services offered by Amerant Bank N.A. Measure the risk involved in all administered trust or custody accounts in coordination with Supervisor and Senior Management Make recommendations on fiduciary alternatives and structures by assessing customer needs, using knowledge, creativity and sound judgment, in coordination with Relationship Managers and other banking officers Interact with legal counsel in estate proceedings and in trust situations when necessary Consult with trust grantors, co-fiduciaries, beneficiaries and other professionals employed by customers as needed Coordinate tax and real estate activities related to Trusts with outside counsel and tax advisor Coordinate investment program of all discretionary accounts with assigned portfolio manager Determine frequency and amount of payments to beneficiaries and make recommendations concerning special distributions With support from Relationship Managers or other banking officers, obtain assets upon new account setup and gather information concerning cost basis and necessary transfer documents Determine termination provisions, and upon closing an account, transfer assets properly and obtain necessary receipts/releases to protect the Bank Achieve client service goals as established by Supervisor and Senior Management Develop existing and new fiduciary business through periodic client visits and remote contact, promoting and cross-selling fiduciary products and services Address and resolve client concerns and queries within established quality and efficiency parameters Perform services as required to comply with the Community Reinvestment Act Interact with other Units within Amerant Provide support for regulatory-driven projects Maintain client confidentiality within and outside Amerant Stay abreast of current legal and fiduciary services and products within the trust industry Keep current with laws and regulations affecting the Trust Business including Regulation 9, ERISA, and Banking and Probate code Identify, evaluate, monitor and recommend actions to the Risk Management Committee to assess and control risks arising from violations or nonconformance with laws, rules, regulations, policies or ethical standards Ensure preventive measures to comply with rules, regulations and internal policies relating to risks pertaining to BSA, USA Patriot Act, OFAC and other AML issues Other duties as assigned Minimum Education and/or Certifications Minimum of a Bachelor's degree preferably in Trust, Legal or Business Studies Trust certification is preferred Minimum Work Experience Minimum 1 - 3 years of trust administrative experience or legal experience in probate, trusts administration, or estate planning, estate and fiduciary income taxation Ability to communicate effectively with beneficiaries and professional associates Should be comfortable developing and implementing financial plans and estate plans with clients Ability to prioritize projects and operate with minimum supervision Technical and Other Essential Knowledge Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong client contact skills Experience with Outlook, Internet and MS Office, including Word (Advanced), Excel (Advanced), and PowerPoint (Advanced) Seniority level Entry level Employment type Full-time Job function Finance and Sales #J-18808-Ljbffr Amerant Bank
