Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time Special Education teaching opportunity is available for the 2025-2026 school year in New Bern, NC, serving both elementary and high school students. This contract position involves working onsite within self-contained and inclusion classrooms, focusing on students with intensive needs, including autism and nonverbal munication challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a self-contained adaptive classroom for grades K-3 with a caseload of 7 students requiring specialized instruction.
  • Collaborate with at least two teaching assistants to support individualized learning plans.
  • Oversee an inclusion classroom for grades 9-12, working with a caseload averaging 15 students daily, with the potential to support up to 37 students.
  • Develop and implement tailored educational strategies that meet state and federal guidelines for students with diverse learning needs.
  • municate effectively with families, staff, and multidisciplinary teams to enhance student success and well-being.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Special Education certification preferred, particularly adaptive certification; however, candidates with other certifications or out-of-state credentials are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience with students on the autism spectrum and those who are nonverbal is highly desired.
  • Ability to manage multiple classrooms across different grade levels and varying caseload sizes.
  • Strong collaboration skills for working with teaching assistants and educational support staff.

Details:

  • Position is full-time and onsite, operating Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:45 PM.
  • Contract term runs from August 18, 2025, through May 22, 2026.
  • Primary locations include two separate school settings within the same area.
