Our client is a well-funded, early-stage AI company with a bold mission to reinvent wealth management. They are building a unified, AI-native platform to automate the entire wealth management stack, which is one of the largest and most fragmented sectors in financial services. With a $15.5M seed round from top-tier VCs like General Catalyst and Venrock , and a team of just three employees, this is a unique opportunity to join a de-risked company with extensive runway and existing partnerships.

As a Founding AI Engineer , you'll be employee number three and will play a mission-critical role in scaling the company from the ground up. You will own major technical domains and work directly with the founder to establish the core technical foundations. The ability to close the end-to-end process quickly is a key part of the company culture.

You will be responsible for:

• Building core platform components that unify fragmented wealth management tools.
• Designing and building end-to-end AI-powered workflows that automate financial advisor processes.
• Developing multi-agent AI workflows to deliver intelligent financial insights.
• Architecting scalable systems for real-time financial data orchestration.
• Making critical technical decisions with a high degree of autonomy.

Requirements

We are seeking a Senior or Staff-level full-stack engineer with a strong background in applied AI and a founder-like mindset. The ideal candidate is hungry, curious, and eager to be fully immersed in an AI-first environment.

Must-Haves:

• 5–10 years of experience as a full-stack engineer at a Tier 1 venture-backed startup (Series B or earlier).
• Proven experience building real-world applied AI projects.
• Expertise in the company's tech stack: Python , Django , TypeScript , and Vercel .
• Familiarity with AI tools and APIs like ChatGPT and Claude Code .
• A track record of extended stints at previous companies (avoiding short job hops).
• Willingness to work in-person, 5 days a week , in NYC.

Bonus Points:

• Prior experience as a founder or founding engineer.
• A CS or STEM degree from a top 25 university.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure like AWS ECS, RDS/Postgres, Redis, or Terraform.
