Job Description

Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC), a Tony Award-winning nonprofit theatre dedicated to the production of contemporary plays and musicals, seeks a Company Manager for its Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. For over fifty years, MTC has been the creative and artistic home for America’s most gifted theatrical artists, producing works of the highest quality by American and international playwrights. We are strongly committed to producing work that is made by, and tells the stories of, a wide range of voices from all walks of life and to making that work accessible to all audiences including those that have historically lacked access to the arts and cultural sector. MTC produces up to eight plays annually in Broadway's restored Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on West 47th Street and off Broadway at the historic NY City Center complex on West 55th Street. Our 2025-26 Broadway Season will include the plays Punch and The Balusters . The Company Manager for the Friedman Theatre is responsible for all company management functions related to MTC’s Broadway home. The Company Manager is a key member of the general management staff in our highly collaborative management atmosphere, and reports to the General Manager. The Company Manager must be driven, dedicated and resourceful. This position combines company management of a season of Broadway shows and the tasks associated with working in the busy general management office of a LORT nonprofit theatre including weekly meetings with both internal and external stakeholders. The Company Manager will negotiate and prepare all AEA contracts, organize travel and housing needs for visiting artists and proof marketing and press materials. The Company Manager will cover all performances at the theatre, coordinating with stage and production management to address production/actor needs (including hospitality events), with house management on front of house concerns, and with box office on ticketing issues. The Company Manager will monitor box office activity and institutional ticketing needs, issue daily and weekly reports and manage various ticket inventories for each show, including all house seat and Tony voter ticket requests. The Company Manager will process payroll for production staff including pension and welfare reports, royalty payments and manage show budgets in collaboration with the finance office. The Company Manager will co-supervise (with the City Center Company Manager) a Management Trainee. Requirements: 3-5 years of experience in Company or General Management in a comparable setting; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Knowledge of LORT-AEA rules and familiarity with other collective bargaining agreements are a major plus. Nights and weekends are necessary for this position. This position falls under the jurisdiction of ATPAM and the salary and benefits for this position are collectively bargained in an agreement between MTC and ATPAM. Currently the weekly base salary for this position is $2,131.47. Individual will also receive health, pension and annuity contributions per the ATPAM collectively bargained agreement. To Apply: Forward resume and cover letter to HR Director, via email to: jobs@mtc-nyc.org your name and “Friedman” in the subject (MS Word, Adobe PDF or plain-text format only). Manhattan Theatre Club believes that equity, diversity and inclusion should be essential elements of all activity within the organization. We have made it a priority to create and maintain an environment that is attractive to and supportive of all individuals regardless of their ethnicity, race, gender identity, age, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, education, marital status, language, military or veteran status, etc. MTC is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
