Why is June
Faith & Family Month?
Why did we choose JUNE as Faith & Family Month? June is home to multiple family-related observances. For instance, June 21st is Father’s Day and June 14th is National Children’s Day. According to Family First (All Pro Dad/Mom), June has also been designated as Fatherhood Month in Florida. In Indiana & Tennessee: Nuclear Family Month, Utah & Arkansas: Fidelity Month and Alabama: Strong Families Month.
Did you know that the word “June” relates to “children”? It is derived from the Latin word “Ju-Ven-Is” which translates to “youth.” This is why the month of June is annually set aside to celebrate and focus on children.
June is also tagged as National Family Month. The month aims to promote strong family values and raise awareness of the challenges families face. It is a time to prioritize family, communicate, and spend quality time together.
National Family Month’s aim is to promote strong family values and raise awareness of the challenges and issues faced by families today. Some families face financial stress, work-life balance, and conflicts within the family. This month provides an opportunity to address these issues and find ways to overcome them. The understanding of friends can help find direction in confusing situations.
June is also National Family Reunification Month. It is a time to celebrate families and acknowledge their accomplishments. It is also a time to raise awareness of the challenges families face when separated through the foster care system. Reunification can sometimes help restore a sense of normalcy for children and strengthen family bonds.
Of course, our Christian faith is the cornerstone for raising families. We will be emphasizing church services, corporate church events, as well as organizations focused on children and family. See the event calendar for how you can be involved.
