Job Description

General: T he Acting Company seeks a Company Manager for the ir 202 5 -2 6 Season . The Company Manager is the first point of contact for artists and crew . They are responsible for manag ing the execution of the weekly company schedule, company travel logistics , and company hospitality needs from the first tour performance through the return of the tour to NYC. The Company Manager also acts as the l iaison between the Presenters at each venue and The Acting Company . This position reports to the Producing Director and also wor k s closely with the Associate Producer and General Manager . Company Information: The Acting Company ( ) is a fifty-year-old theatre company dedicated to developing artists and audiences through national repertory tours. This season’s two show repertory will include an adaptation of Great Expectations by Nikki Massoud (directed by Devin Brain) and William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (directed by Risa Brainin) . The rep will rehearse in NYC, tech and run at a regional presenting theatre in November 2025 in Ventura, CA, before touring nationally from January 2026 - March 2026 in a wide variety of theatrical venues from The Library Theatre in Hoover, AL to State Theatre in New Brunswick, NJ. Responsibil ities (List not intended to be exhaustive) : -Advance the tour travel schedule according to AEA rules and presenter bookings in coordination with the p roducing team and t our p roduction s taff. -Prepare and distribute weekly schedules and city sheets in coordination with p roducers and the t our p roduction s taff, keeping them updated as schedules shift on the road. -Manage bookings of hotel s , company flights, rental cars, and auxiliary travel in c oordinat ion with the pr oducers. -Manag e food and hospitality logistics with presenters on the road, considering all company dietary restrictions. -Manage the execution of e ducational events on the road (workshops or post-show discussions ), and gather e ducational information from these events ( e.g. photos, name of school, number, and age of students, etc.) . -Manage company receipts for reimbursement, overtime reporting, and worker compensation claims ( d istribute f orms to a ctors/ c rew, answer any questions about w orker ’s c omp per company policy). -Facilitate logistics for any additional rehearsals needed on tour, in coordination with production and stage management. -Stock departmental Company Management tour kit prior to tour and as needed during tour. -Submit Company Manager reports for each tour stop, including the day’s schedule, health info, notes on venues and presenters, lateness tracking, etc. -Set up and take down h ouse boards at each venue. -Receive presenter payments and performance fees at each stop and mail payments securely back to the office. Qualifications: -3-4 years experience in Theatrical Company Management or similar positions ( e.g., Tour Management, Stage Management, Production Management, Directing, Covid Safety Management, etc.). -Able to lift up to 50 lbs., push/pull 100lbs, stand for extended periods of time (3+ hours), navigate multiple levels of stairs. -Some pre-production hours may be remote based on availability and schedule. Applicant m ust have NYC housing and may be expected to work in person during some rehearsals . -Hands-on experience in a management position on a theatrical tour is a plus. -Valid Driver’s License, First-Aid certification, and EDI Training is a plus. Production Timeline & Fees (as of May 2025, subject to change, exact dates TBD):

  • September 8 th - November 16 th , 2025 – Company Manager Prep Week s (PT) --September 23 rd , 2025: First Day of Great Expectations Rehearsal --October 7 th , 2025: First Day of A Midsummer Night’s Dream Rehearsal --Part time ( 10-20 hrs. /week), but flexible hours possible --New York local preferred, but remote work possible --Rate of $27/hour -November 17 th -December 22 nd , 2025 – Tech and performance s in Ventura, CA --Full-time, onsite work for tech and performances, tour prep --Housing provided in Ventura, CA --Fee of $1, 24 0/week -December 22 nd , 2025-January 4 th , 202 6 – Tour Advance Work (PT) --Holidays: 12/24, 12/25, 12/26, 12/31, and 1/1 --New York local preferred, but remote work possible --Rate of $27/hou r -January 5 th - Februray 22 nd , 2026 : National Tour on the road --C M works full-time on the road --Dates include a final week post tour to pack the show, make returns, finish final paperwork --Fee of $1, 24 0/week
  • February 23 rd – March 1, 2026: Pack up
  • -CM works hourly as needed to finalize receipts and paperwork and to clean up kit (20-40 hrs ) --$27/hour
