  • UM Health Transplant Center is the largest and most experienced transplant center in Michigan. The Transplant Center encompasses our adult kidney, pancreas, liver, heart and lung transplant programs as well as pediatric kidney, liver and heart transplant programs. In addition, we have two living donor programs serving both adult/peds kidney and adult/peds liver patients.

  • The Solid Organ Transplant Program Manager is responsible for managing the administrative systems and operational activities of assigned Transplant Center Solid Organ Transplant Programs. This includes leading people, processes, technology, and projects to achieve the program?s strategic goals, integrating program operations across the enterprise, including outreach clinics and state-wide partnerships.

Responsibilities *

Organizational Relationships:

  • Has a direct reporting relationship to the Transplant Center Administrator

  • The TC Solid Organ Transplant Program Manager partners with the assigned transplant program(s) medical and surgical physician directors to achieve program goals and objectives

Key responsibilities:

Program Operations Management:

  • Serve as program lead for assigned solid organ transplant programs

  • In partnership with program physician/clinical leadership, manage and coordinate program operations including clinical, quality, and operational activities and meetings

  • Work with clinical operational partners to enhance patient satisfaction, access, quality and safety, and resource utilization while ensuring regulatory compliance with OPTN, UNOS, CMS, and TJC

  • In partnership with center and program leaders, plan, lead, and facilitate program meetings and retreats to review performance metrics, develop program plans, resolve issues, and identify areas for improvement including program market strategies

  • Lead the development and implementation of new systems, policies, and clinical protocols. Own and maintain program policies in Policy Stat.

  • Develop and maintain accurate program marketing and educational materials

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Lead, plan and facilitate program preparation for regulatory reviews and site visits

  • Ensure systems for regular audits, ensure compliance with standards and communicate and implement regulatory changes, design faculty and staff education and training as appropriateProcess OPTN key personnel changes for the assigned programs

  • In partnership with center leaders, directors, TC quality, and subject matter experts, coordinate and prepare responses and corrective action plans to regulatory inquiries

Quality Assurance/Process Improvement:

  • Drive Quality/Lean initiatives and interdisciplinary program development aligned with program and center goals

  • In partnership with operational leaders in the clinical segments, develop and implement projects to enhance service delivery and meet operational targets

  • Prepare SBAR and A3 reports, facilitating problem resolution and improved communication

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Provide timely projections, assessments, and audit findings and facilitate review and action planning based on results

  • In partnership with center and program leadership, develop program annual activity budgets and variance reporting

  • Create program review process and annual report highlighting program strengths, challenges, and improvement efforts. Assist in the development of the Transplant Center Annual Report.

  • Develop clear, data-driven proposals to leadership, addressing issues and resource requests logically and cost-effectively

Required Qualifications *

  • Master's degree in a business, healthcare, nursing, or related field (i.e.; MBA, MHSA, MPH, MSN, MS, etc.)

  • 2-3 years healthcare experience, preferably in clinical operations

  • Strong multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, emphasizing customer service

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse environment, experience working with clinicians

  • Demonstrated commitment to enhancing workplace culture and belonging

Desired Qualifications *

  • Project management and process improvement experience in clinical operations

  • Knowledge of CMS, UNOS, OPTN, and Joint Commission standards

  • PMP or other relevant certification

  • Transplant experience
