Join the TECH CTO VR Video Coding Research team at Nokia TECH as a Principal Scientist and influence the future of video technology! In this pivotal role, you will develop, implement, and test cutting-edge video coding algorithms to enhance compression efficiency and deliver groundbreaking user experiences. You'll engage in hands-on research, contribute to international standardization efforts, and spearhead innovative research ideas that lead to impactful publications and patents. With your strong background in video coding and signal processing, you'll play a key role in shaping next-gen video codecs. Develop, implement and test novel video coding algorithms and solutions for next generation video codecs improving compression efficiency and enabling new user experiences. Participate in hands-on research work and contribute to international standardization Initiate and create research ideas as well as contribute to research work that leads to technology transfer, publications and Intellectual Property. You have: At least a Master's level degree in a relevant field (e.g. EE, computer science, signal processing), a PhD degree is preferred. Minimum 8 years of relevant experience on algorithm development for video coding tools Strong background and knowledge of image and/or video signal processing and compression, including latest video coding standards, such as HEVC and VVC. Strong mathematical and theoretical skills. It would be nice if you also had: Experience of international standardization is considered a significant benefit (e.g. JVET, MPEG). Experience in AI/neural networks based video compression Knowledge on emerging video formats (360-degree compression, 6DOF video/image processing) A track record of patent creation and publishing in scientific journals in the fields of video/image signal processing and compression. Strong verbal communication and presentation skills in English along with excellent technical and scientific writing skills in English.
