Job Description

Title: Human Resources Generalist
Reporting To: Chief People Officer
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Job Type/Schedule: Full-Time, Salaried

About the Job

This role is the connective tissue of our HR team—equal parts recruiter, benefits guru, culture keeper, and compliance compass. You’ll be the go-to for all things people: onboarding, benefits, safety, offboarding, and keeping our systems and spreadsheets airtight. If you're energized by making things smoother for others and aren’t afraid to juggle calendars, careers, and COBRA all in the same day, read on.

Who You Are

You’re curious, compassionate, and just a little bit nosy—in the best HR way. You notice what others miss, and you’re always five steps ahead on logistics. You care deeply about people and policy, and you believe that clarity + kindness is the key to a thriving workplace. You’re not just checking boxes—you’re making the whole system hum.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Benefits support and compliance ownership: Serve as the go-to for employee benefit questions and policy clarifications, ensuring compassionate, accurate, and timely support.
  • End-to-end benefits administration: Coordinate enrollments, terminations, and QLE updates across medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AFLAC, Ally Health, 401k, Bonus Days, and tuition reimbursement programs.
  • COBRA Oversight: Manage COBRA communications, elections, and compliance documentation in partnership with third-party administrators.
  • Invoice accuracy and reconciliation: Review and approve all benefits-related invoices, ensuring clean records and prompt resolution of discrepancies.
  • Job description and requisition management: Draft and post job openings across platforms, maintain requisition pipelines, and track spend approvals when needed.
  • Candidate communications and phone screening: Serve as the primary point of contact for applicants, conducting all initial phone screens and guiding candidates through the hiring process.
  • Recruiter and vendor coordination: Liaise with external recruiters, background check providers, drug screening vendors, and job board reps to ensure smooth candidate processing.
  • Interview logistics and support: Schedule interviews, prep hiring managers, and ensure candidate experience is timely, respectful, and aligned with company culture.
  • Internship program management: Coordinate high school and university internship programs (e.g., UNF, Embry-Riddle, Creekside HS), including recruiting, onboarding, and evaluations.
  • Onboarding delivery: Conduct HR orientations, assign training, prep onboarding materials, and ensure new hires feel welcomed and set up for success.
  • Offboarding administration: Handle exit paperwork, deactivate systems access, and support departing team members with compassion and efficiency.
  • Training and grant program execution: Track team development activities, execute training reimbursement grants, and maintain certificates and training matrix documentation.
  • New hire safety orientation: Deliver safety training to all new hires and maintain records of completion as part of OSHA compliance efforts.
  • Safety program coordination: Ensure PPE is stocked, inspections (e.g., extinguishers, emergency lights) are scheduled, and documentation is updated.
  • Disaster readiness management: Maintain and enforce the HR-owned sections of the company’s disaster preparedness checklist.
  • Property and access control: Manage keys, alarm codes, camera access, and door permissions in collaboration with leadership and facilities vendors.
  • System administration and HRIS updates: Maintain sensitive employee records, monitor the Team Member Stats sheet, and ensure HR data integrity.
  • Internal HR communications: Draft and send teamwide HR announcements, celebrations, updates, and reminders.
  • Cross-Functional HR Partnership : Collaborate closely with department leads and senior staff to support role clarity, team structure, and people-related initiatives, ensuring alignment with HR processes, compliance needs, and organizational goals.
  • Administrative Continuity and Support: Provide operational support for administrative functions, ensuring stability and follow-through while cross-functional capacity develops.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary to support departmental and organizational goals.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. BHR or BBA a plus.
  • Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in HR and with HRIS softwares.
  • Skills:
    • Familiarity with HRIS, benefits management, and ATS platforms and management tools.
    • Fluency with Microsoft Office and other office productivity tools, with aptitude to learn new software systems.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • CHRP/PHR/SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High emotional quotient and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment law and best practices.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds independently.
  • Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise and temperature variations.
