About the Role

We are seeking a licensed and experienced Funeral Director to serve families in Birmingham, Alabama , with professionalism, empathy, and integrity. In this meaningful role, you will guide individuals and families through funeral and memorial planning, helping them celebrate lives with dignity and compassion.

Key Responsibilities

• Family Care : Meet with families to plan services with compassion, clearly explaining options for burial, cremation, merchandise, and ceremony details.
• Service Management : Coordinate and direct all aspects of funerals, memorials, and intermentsensuring every detail is handled with care and professionalism.
• Legal & Administrative : Prepare and manage vital records and legal documents, including death certificates and insurance claims, ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations.
• Preparation & Care : Oversee or assist with preparation of the deceased (if licensed to embalm), ensuring respectful handling and presentation.
• Facility Oversight : Maintain a clean, respectful, and well-functioning facility, vehicles, and service equipment.
• Community Engagement : Build and maintain positive relationships with local clergy, cemeteries, medical professionals, and community leaders.
• Support Pre-Need Services : Educate families on pre-planning options and assist with related arrangements when applicable.

Qualifications

• Licensed Funeral Director in the state of Alabama (or ability to transfer licensure).
• Degree in Mortuary Science or Funeral Service from an accredited institution.
• Valid Alabama drivers license with a clean driving record.
• 2+ years of experience preferred, but new licensees are encouraged to apply.
• Excellent communication, listening, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in emotional environments.
• Professional, compassionate, and customer-service focused.
