As we continue to grow, we are looking for a detail-oriented Estimator to join our team and support our commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Position Overview

The Estimator plays a critical role in bridging sales, design, and construction. This position is responsible for accurately calculating material, labor, and subcontractor costs for residential deck and outdoor living projects. The Estimator ensures that proposals are clear, competitive, and profitable, while aligning with the client’s vision and Black Label Built’s standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Assessment
  • Review project designs, site plans, and specifications to understand scope.
  • Conduct site visits (as needed) to gather measurements and assess conditions.
• Estimating & Costing
  • Prepare detailed take-offs for lumber, hardware, decking, railing, and other materials.
  • Estimate labor costs, equipment use, and subcontractor needs.
  • Develop complete project cost proposals, including contingencies and markups.
• Collaboration
  • Work closely with the sales and design teams to refine proposals and ensure client expectations are met.
  • Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and availability.
  • Provide input to project managers for scheduling and resource planning.
• Documentation & Accuracy
  • Maintain standardized estimating templates, pricing databases, and cost libraries.
  • Ensure proposals are clear, timely, and professionally presented.
  • Track project estimates against actuals to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience: 2–5 years of estimating experience, preferably in construction, deck building, or outdoor living projects.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and building codes.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and project management tools.
  • Strong math, measurement, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
• Other: Attention to detail, ability to work independently, and a team-first mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with decks, patios, pergolas, and outdoor kitchens.
• Familiarity with specialty materials such as composite decking, aluminum railing, or outdoor lighting.
• CAD or design software experience is a plus.
