Job Description

Overview

Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician Entry-Level at ECS Group of Companies. No experience is required; you will work under the guidance of experienced professionals and receive training to safely perform a variety of tasks.

Responsibilities

• Field Activities: Conduct observation, testing, and sampling of materials, including soils, aggregates, and concrete on construction materials testing project sites; perform tasks based on project requirements under the guidance of senior technicians, staff professionals, and project managers.
• Testing Procedures: Use various methodologies and testing equipment to perform routine field and/or laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete in accordance with industry standards and compliance.
• Data Collection: Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspection; assist with calculations, drafting, and other administrative duties as requested.
• Communication: Maintain daily communication with site contractors, technicians, and project managers; report changing site conditions and additional requested testing to supervisors; attend project meetings as requested; help organize field equipment and report broken or missing equipment as needed.
• Training and Development: Receive training in ECS methodology for project observations, inspections, and testing; document findings with precision in accordance with accepted engineering practices.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds.
• Must have a valid driver's license and insurance.
• Willingness to develop understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
• Willingness to obtain knowledge of CMT principles and applications, as well as ASTM laboratory standards, leading to certifications in soils, concrete, and radiation safety.
• OSHA 10 certification may be required.
• Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Ability to work effectively with contractors, peers, and supervisors.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected pay range for this role and location is $17-$19/hour. Final compensation will be determined based on location and individual qualifications. Paid training is provided and certification fees may be covered as part of career development.
