Job Summary The Bronx County District Attorney’s Office seeks well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds contribute to serve the 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and to pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. We are seeking to hire a Chief for the Recruitment Bureau to work under the supervision of the Chief of Staff. The Bureau Chief will be an experienced, well-rounded professional with a strong track record in legal and professional staff recruitment, particularly with respect to qualified lateral attorneys, and an ability to create innovative and results-oriented solutions to address an agency-wide staffing shortage. Job Responsibilities Establish and implement recruitment efforts that effectively communicate and support the Office’s mission and strategic vision; Oversee and direct recruitment of attorneys and professional staff, from drafting the job posting to making the job offer to successful applicants; Develop innovative strategies for expanding and increasing the recruitment and retention of lateral attorneys and addressing unfilled positions; Provide leadership and guidance to the Recruitment team, overseeing campus recruitment efforts, recruiter performance, attrition and retention strategies, and candidate movement through the process; Engage with management to assess staffing needs; Represent the Office at job fairs, law school events, and recruitment conferences; Collaborate with HR, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and data analysis teams to review recruitment metrics; Communicate job postings and updates within and outside the Office; Serve as liaison to law schools to attract talent and coordinate on-campus recruitment; Oversee summer internship programs, including planning, assignments, evaluations, and mentorship; Ensure fair and equitable interview protocols; Handle sensitive information, work under pressure, and meet deadlines; Perform other projects as assigned. Qualifications Juris Doctor and admission to practice law in New York required; NY residency and U.S. citizenship required on first day; Minimum 7+ years in legal recruitment or law school career counseling; Strong candidate sourcing and relationship-building skills; Knowledge of relevant laws, civil service hiring, and retention practices; Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; Ability to handle confidential info, work under pressure, and meet deadlines; Proficiency in Adobe Pro, Excel, Visio, Microsoft Office; Data management and reporting skills required; Knowledge of NYC systems like NYCAPS, e-Hire, PRISE, PMS, CHRMS, and CityTime preferred; Creative thinking and collaborative work approach.
