What You’ll Do: Key Responsibilities As an Assistant County Attorney, you will: Provide legal advice and guidance on County matters, including ordinances, contracts, and land use issues. Represent the County in legal proceedings, including code violations, tax collection, and litigation. Prepare and review legal documents, including proposed ordinances and various contracts. Attend meetings of County boards, commissions, and agencies to provide legal advice. Monitor and interpret federal and state legislation affecting the County. Collaborate with County staff, Board members, and elected officials on legal strategies and responses. What We’re Looking For: Extensive Experience: 3+ years of expertise in the local government or public sector in the state of Virginia. Educational Foundation: ABA-accredited Law School degree and admission to practice before the Virginia Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia.
